We have exclusively partnered with a high-growth, private equity-backed fintech to appoint a General Counsel to lead its Legal and Compliance functions across Europe and the UK.
This is a rare opportunity to join a scaling payments business at a pivotal stage of growth, following its recent acquisition by a leading global investor. The organisation delivers innovative acquiring, payment processing and e-money solutions to SMEs, operating under the supervision of the Central Bank of Ireland and the UK Financial Conduct Authority.
Reporting to senior leadership and working closely with the Board, you will lead a high-performing Legal and Compliance team, ensuring the business operates within complex regulatory frameworks while enabling continued innovation and expansion.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead the Group Legal and Compliance functions across multiple jurisdictions
· Advise the executive team on regulatory, governance, commercial and strategic matters
· Oversee compliance with CBI and FCA requirements
· Act as a key contact for regulators, managing engagement and regulatory change
· Partner with the business on product development and growth strategy
· Lead complex commercial transactions, partnerships and expansion initiatives
· Manage and develop high-performing teams, budgets and external counsel relationships.
Candidate Profile:
· Senior qualified lawyer (Ireland, UK or EU) ideally with strong fintech/payments expertise
· Proven track record operating at executive level
· Deep understanding of regulated financial services environments
· Commercially astute, with experience supporting high-growth, international businesses.
