This inspiring event symbolizes hope, as communities all over the world come together
to support mental health and prevent suicide.
The Darkness Into Light event, is the major event and fundraiser for Pieta, a charity that provides support for individuals struggling with suicide and self-harm, and the event has since spread globally.
The first event was held in Dublin in 2009, and has continued to grow to include London in 2012, as its first international event, and has since expanded to include international partner charities, in Seoul, Spain, New Zealand, the Netherlands and Australia since 2023. This event is now supported by more than 150,000 participants worldwide.
Pieta has partnered with headspace as the Australian beneficiary to raise funds for youth mental health.
It involves participants walking or running from dusk into dawn to symbolise the journey from darkness to light. The event aims to connect communities, bring hope to those affected by suicide, and encourage open conversations about mental health.
Darkness Into Light 2025, will take place at 4:15 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025 in different locations.
