Assistant General Counsel - Dublin/London
Mared Roberts • August 28, 2026
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Assistant General Counsel to join the in-house legal team of a leading global financial services organisation, based in either Dublin or London.
This is a broad and high-impact role, with a particular focus on privacy, data protection and commercial contracts. You will work closely with senior management and teams within Legal, Compliance, Technology, Finance and Business Development, supporting matters across Ireland, the UK, EU and wider international markets.
Your work will include advising on GDPR and international privacy laws, alongside data transfers, third-party risk and privacy governance. You will also draft, review and negotiate a range of commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, NDAs, client engagements and agreements.
The role offers excellent exposure to emerging areas including AI, cybersecurity and technology regulation, with opportunities to contribute to policy development, training, regulatory engagement and broader legal strategy.
The ideal person
You will be an Ireland or England & Wales qualified solicitor with 4–8 years’ PQE and strong hands-on experience in privacy and data protection law. You will also have solid commercial contracting experience and the ability to translate complex legal and technical issues into practical advice for the business.
Experience within a regulated financial services, technology or data-driven environment would be advantageous. IAPP certification such as CIPP/E or CIPM is a plus.
This is an excellent opportunity for a privacy-focused lawyer seeking a genuinely international in-house role with broad responsibility and exposure to the evolving intersection of data, technology, AI and financial services.
