Senior Banking Solicitor  6 Month Contract  Dublin    € Negotiable

Our Client is a leading banking group. An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Lawyer to the join the legal team for a 6 month assignment

Job Purpose
Provide legal support and guidance on all aspects legal affairs within the bank, including legal and regulatory advice on specific customer transactions, reporting to the Head of Legal and representing the bank at external committee meetings.

Responsibilities to include

  • Assisting with Company Secretarial Duties and Director duties for subsidiary companies
  • Arranging Annual General Meetings and all related matters
  • Formulation and review of legal policies relating to the work of the Bank especially through identification of initiatives for improvements in the implementation of the legal work of the Bank with particular emphasis on efficiency and legal risk management.
  • Assist in the management of the legal elements of Operational Risk reporting & “In Control” SOX 404.
  • Provision of legal advice in relation to corporate governance and the overall legal interests of the bank
  • Provision of legal advice in relation to specific support functions including taxation, finance matters, employment law, IT and premises
  • Provision of legal advice in relation to legal and regulatory compliance matters.
  • Provision of advice on litigation cases
  • Assist in Co-ordinating of correspondence to and from the Financial Regulator. This includes: drafting suitable replies ensuring that bank messages are consistent throughout the organisation and that deadlines set can be met
  • Dealing with queries on deposit and current accounts and any new investment and loan products
  • Advise on all aspects of security taking, negotiating the terms with solicitors and other advisers acting for the Borrower/ Vendors, as appropriate
  • Advise the Loans Management Unit, Business Banking and Credit Management on the structure of transactions and qualifications on title
  • Assess basic security training issues in Loans Management and Business Banking and coach staff to increase knowledge, reduce errors and requirement for rework.
  • Review, draft, negotiate and settle legal documents including facility letters, security deeds, priority agreements, guarantees and security documents
  • Assist in the provision of legal information and training to staff across the Bank
  • Provide advice on Data Protection legislation- Policy & Access Requests
  • Advising on regulatory requirements relating to the Bank’s business and its customers.

Knowledge and Experience Required

Qualified Solicitor ideally with 5- 8 years experience in Financial Services
Proven track record of delivering results in a Financial Services role
Proven company secretarial experience
