Senior In-House Legal Advisor              Dublin              €100,000 +

The Legal Services function of this global financial services group provides legal advice and services to the insurance and banking business in Ireland through a small team of Lawyers

Purpose:

This position will assist the General Counsel and legal team with the Insurance and Pensions business assist head office with Group projects for Ireland/Europe.

The Role:

  • Provision of timely and accurate advice and services to support the control and management of legal risk
  • Involvement in all aspects of pensions, insurance, company, contract, commercial, trust, EU law and regulation
  • Managing corporate governance
  • Assisting with documentation review, contractual certainty, drafting and amending contracts and supporting documentation
  • Policy interpretation
  • Participation in general projects
  • Conducting training and providing "know how"
  • Sourcing and obtaining reference materials and doing research
  • Developing and maintaining systems to ensure efficient delivery of service to client

The Candidate

  • Relevant degree;
  • Solicitor/Barrister qualification examinations;
  • At least 6-7 years post qualification experience to include experience of company commercial, banking and/or financial services law within the Irish domestic market;
  • Strong corporate governance and company secretarial experience;
  • Practical understanding of the Insurance and Pensions Business preferable but absolutely not essential
  • Knowledge of Irish/English law in:
    • financial services
    • Contract drafting
    • Company law, contract and commercial law and EU law
  • Ability to train and update department and clients on new laws and regulations;
  • Strong problem solving ability;
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment;
  • Strong reporting and presentation skills;
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
