Our Client, a boutique firm with offices throughout Europe, is looking to recruit a lawyer who has experience in non contentious construction advice (construction and engineering contracts, appointments, novations, warranties etc) who can combine this with construction/ professional indemnity litigation. ie. Contentious and non contentious mix roughly 50-50 but variable according to caseload
You will need to be knowledgeable about the standard form contracts and the technical legal issues affecting such contracts, have experience of and confidence in advising clients direct and negotiating face to face with other lawyers
You will need to understand the approach that professionals have to contractual risk, rather than coming from exclusively the employer or contractor's side.
Though this is for a role in London advising predominantly on English contracts, some previous exposure to Ireland, Irish clients or Irish law would be a bonus as some work comes from their Irish office.
The successful candidate will be working with a partner who is a leading construction lawyer named in Chambers, and who has written the book on professional appointments and is a regular contributor to Building magazine.
The level they have in mind is around the 2 to 4 years pqe level but candidates will be considered whatever their length of qualification.
