Securitisation Lawyers – London          Salary £60,000 - 120,000

Our Client, Clifford Chance, one of the world’s leading Law Firms, has retained our services to recruit securitisation lawyers for their London team. Their Securitisation Group comprises 14 partners, 45 associates and around 10 trainees.

They have the world's leading securitisation practice and have developed many of the techniques that have propelled securitisation in Europe and Asia into the mainstream. Their International Securitisation Group was established in 1988 and has acted on more than 500 securitisations in more than 30 countries.

THE WORK

The nature of international securitisation work calls for a global practice structure and their European and international network of offices has enabled them to advise on a number of complex cross-border deals.

The deals you will encounter will fall broadly into three groups.
- Major term bond issues; Conduit deals and Corporate finance deals involving sale and purchase of companies and portfolios of assets.

You will enjoy the benefits of being a generalist in a very sophisticated area of law: you will apply a wide range of law from contracts, trusts and tax through taking security, derivatives and corporate finance to insolvency.

Their lawyers will usually work in teams of five or six (plus specialist lawyers - for example in tax and insolvency) on transactions which generally last for about three or four months. They will immerse themselves in the business environment within which the deal will take place; learn how to conduct risk identification and analysis; look for innovative applications of the law within the deal framework and try to identify solutions; be closely involved in drafting, quite often against the clock and without recourse to precedent and will work closely with counsel across a number of jurisdictions on cross-border deals.

EXPERIENCE

You will be from qualified up to 5 years pqe, excellent banking, finance or capital markets experience with some experience of securitisation and a desire to specialise in this area.

With a top-class finance and/or capital markets background, you may have experience of some or all of the following areas: security, debt or equity capital markets, bank lending, limited recourse/project financing.

In any event you should have:
- First class legal ability (including excellent drafting skills);
- Excellent project management and organisation skills;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Good analytical skills;
- A friendly and open personality and good team working skills.

They are looking for lawyers who:

- can demonstrate a keen interest and enthusiasm to learn about our clients' business;
- can work in teams, motivating and coaching juniors and contributing to overall success;
- are empathetic, responsive and reliable;
- are commercial and innovative in the solutions they deliver to clients;
- are good at fostering relationships with clients.
